The No MOE Corruption Voter Guide does not necessarily serve to tell voters who to vote for, but most certainly warns voters of who NOT to elevate to a position of public trust. Tiffany Moore-Russell may be the single most corrupt office holder in all of Florida, and her sorority sister, Roberta Walton Roberts must be rejected by voters, along with her, on August 18th.
Russell came into office by way of corruption. A federal indictment from Cook County, Illinois sheds some light on what Florida voters have been unaware of during her tenure. It began with shady businessman Donald Donagher paying Russell a bribe during her initial run for Clerk of Court. Donagher was indicted after it was discovered he sought government contracts for debt collection so that his company, PENN CREDIT CORPORATION, can take the lion’s share of money owed to the courts by everyday People. His bribes were paid to multiple candidates for clerk of the court, including Russell, who is identified in the indictment as “Clerk C”. You can read the full indictment here.
In order to secure the contract for debt collection with Russell, Donagher sought to pay Russell roughly $20,000 in bribes. He initially sent here $3,000.00 in “insurance“, before he met with Russell and handed her a $2,500 check. Russell then sought another $2,000 from Donagher. One of the checks was made out to LANES, a nonprofit headed by Russell’s AKA sorority sister. Russell is the South Atlantic Regional Director of the AKA sorority.
Voters may be surprised to learn that there is a connection between Russell and Brevard County sheriff Wayne Ivey: The indictment alleges that Ivey was also on Donagher’s payroll. Ivey received $15,500 that included $6,000 for the County Animal Services program, which had been taken over by Ivey, and $2,000 for the “Shop with a Cop” program. Donagher asked Ivey to lock in his deal with the Brevard County Clerk of Court. Through Ivey, a Republican, and Russell, a Democrat, a shady businessman from Pennsylvania was allowed to bribe his way into preying on the People through excessive fines, fees and court costs, because Corruption does not have a political party. After the indictment of Donagher, Russell terminated the contract with PENN CREDIT and turned on Donagher while cooperating with the feds.
Notwithstanding the manner in which she came into office, a public corruption lawsuit brought by Moe Dimanche has implicated Russell in misusing the Clerk of Courts office at present to rig foreclosures, issue bogus arrest warrants, and block court filings by anyone trying to defend themselves through the e-filing portal. Naturally, the local court system, which has benefitted greatly from Russell’s behavior in that same system has stalled the pursuit of any corrective action taken against her.
Roberta Walton Johnson, who is running to replace Russell, used to go by the name Roberta Riggins in the state of Georgia. Walton/Roberts/Riggins worked as a bank teller and was involved in a $230,000.00 scheme that involved nine other co-defendants. She cashed $26,000 in stolen Georgia income tax refund checks and she kept $2,000 for herself. In order to avoid jail, she snitched on all nine other individuals, just as Moore snitched on Donagher, and was given 5 years of probation. After she decided to come to Florida, Russell created a new office for self-help and gave Riggins/Walton/Roberts the position of manager with a $75,000.00 salary.
While this Corruption Alert is not necessarily an endorsement of the opponents of Riggins/Roberts/Walton or Tiffany Moore Russell, it must be noted that first responders are severely underpaid, and have resorted to panhandling on the weekends in order to make ends meet. That being said, the only candidate who has pledged a commitment to our firefighters is Mayra Uribe, and that alone makes her the only qualified candidate for the job.
