It’s no secret that law enforcement is a reflection of the guy at the top, the Governor. The Governor reigns supreme over every facet of the executive branch, and the sheriff’s of this state simply follow the leader. The problem is that they have followed Ron DeSantis straight into the depths of tyranny.
Moe first took notice of T.K. Waters after the traffic stop of William Anthony McNeil Jr. went viral. It wasn’t necessarily that sheriff’s deputies punched McNeil and damaged his car without justification. Deputies can go rogue from time to time, and one bad cop shouldn’t be a reflection of the entire sheriff’s office. The problem is what T.K. Waters did (and didn’t do) after the public outrage.
After learning that McNeil had recorded the incident with his own phone and that it contradicted official reports, Waters claimed that his investigators did not see the moment deputy D. Bowers punched McNeil in the face while his hands were up, and their official reports omitted the assault altogether. What was gleaned from this is that coverups go all the way up to the top, and they shouldn’t have to. The local state attorney declined to prosecute the deputy, despite millions of people around the world seeing him strike a man who did nothing more than not turn his headlights on during the day time.
After Waters issued a formal statement, Moe pledged to suspend him from office, if elected the 47th Governor of the State of Florida on November 3rd.
I will suspend T.K. Waters from office immediately when I take office, and this statement alone is grounds for suspension. I don’t see any critique of the foul language used by the deputies, or their reactions to realizing they were being filmed, nor an apology. Unacceptable!

Naturally, T.K. Waters and Melissa Nelson’s failures to hold rogue cops accountable led to a culture of impunity, and, yet, another deputy in Jacksonville brutally assaulted a man for no reason. Although Sheriff Waters held a press conference announcing that they were seeking to have the deputy terminated, Moe believes this is only because Waters is aware that a candidate is on your ballot who has a Zero Tolerance policy towards police corruption. This is not enough to avoid suspension.
The DeSantis days are almost over and sheriff’s across this state can no longer think and behave like Ron DeSantis anymore. They must think like Moe, and there is no room for Waters in the Age of Accountability.
When Moe takes office, Waters will join a growing list of sheriffs who will be suspended on the very first day of Moe’s tenure, including:
- Wayne Ivey, who threatened to kill protestors before they could even partake in the No Kings protest, which was a peaceful assembly, as guaranteed by the Constitution. No enemy of the Constitution will remain in office after Moe takes the Oath.
- John Mina, who has a custom of hiring child predators in the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and covering up their misdeeds, and who also covered up how officers killed victims during the standoff of the Pulse Nightclub massacre. Mina represents the greatest threat to individual liberties across all sheriff’s of concern.
- Billy Woods, who berated a reporter during a viral press conference, after the reporter asked Woods about the wrongful arrest of Lindsey Issacs for vehicular homicide. No public servant will forget that they serve the People as opposed to ruling over them when Moe takes office.
