Glen Gilzean OUT!

Moe and Glen first met on August 10th, 2023 at the rally Monique Worrell had at Orlando City Hall after being suspended from office by Ron DeSantis. There were hundreds of people there in support of Worrell and a small group of dissenters, including passersby on bicycles. Moe, Glen and another unknown man were with the dissenters. They discussed the positives about Worrell’s suspension and were discussing what the future of Orlando politics would look like. Glen and his friend never formally introduced themselves, but were shocked that Moe had introduced himself as a candidate for Mayor in the 2023 election. After Worrell spoke, the two men updated DeSantis on what was happening at the event and Moe went about his day.

It wasn’t until Bill Cowles resigned and Gillian replaced him that Moe learned who he was with at the rally. Moe and Glen would meet two more times. After the 2023 Mayoral election was stolen, Moe campaigned for the Commissioner’s seat left vacant after DeSantis suspended Regina Hill from office. The City of Orlando rigged the election again, to keep Moe off of the ballot. They were afraid that having Moe in City Hall would exposed the rampant corruption.

The first thing Moe did was get an Advisory Opinion from the Florida Division of Elections about the Florida Election Code, and how the City Charter provisions used by the city clerk to keep Moe off of the ballot were illegal and being misused to rig the election. Attorney Ashley E. Davis provided Moe with a vague A/O that simply said that Gillian, as the Supervisor of Elections, had a duty to correct a municipalities violation of the FEC. Davis owed Moe a detailed analysis because the law affords candidates ample relief from election fraud, but she didn’t. Moe took the Advisory Opinion to Gilzean in order to have the election integrity preserved before the election took place.

Glen had no clue what the Advisory Opinion was, nor what he was supposed to do with it, nor how to apply it. He set up a meeting between himself, Moe and attorney Nick Shannin. Glen allowed Shannin to dictate the entire conversation and Shannin encouraged Glen to take no action and allow the city clerk, Stephanie Herdocia, to enforce the Florida Election Code, which she has no power to do. Glen listened to Shannin and the election interference by the city clerk was never addressed. Moe later moved to have Shannin sanctioned in a separate case, and shortly after that, Glen fired Shannin and replaced him with Michael Sasso.

Glen Gilzean had no experience in elections, or law, and put election integrity at risk of exploitation by lawyers like Nick Shannin. His lack of experience was an issue everywhere he was appointed, from taking over Reedy Creek once DeSantis took it from Disney, to maintaining his Reedy Creek appointment while taking a paycheck from his job as the Ethics czar. So how does such an unqualified individual keep landing the most important jobs in the state?

Connections.

He is a close confidant of DeSanctimonious, and the fact that he is unqualified doesn’t matter. Ethics, conflicts of interest and election integrity took a hit because DeSantis wanted his friends in charge.

Gilzean is currently at war with Orange County mayor Jerry Demings because Glen formed a grant that he named after himself and allocated 2 million dollars of taxpayer money to fund it. The mayor contends that the county did not authorize any of this, and the waste of tax dollars appears to be a vanity project for DeSantis’ friend.

It gets worse. After Valencia refused the money offered by Gilzean, county officials froze the funds.

It gets even worse: the Orange County Comptroller, Phil Diamond contends that Gilzean is obstructing an investigation into where roughly 1 million of those dollars was wired to. It appears that Gilzean may have wired that money to someone not entitled to it, and it reeks of embezzlement. This is extraordinary coming from Diamond, because he was implicated in the Julie Frey fraud and actively assisted Frey in transferring multiple properties, and even destroyed public records in an attempt to obstruct how Frey sold the home of an elderly woman named Shirley Lois Mason.

Diamond is not in a position to call anyone else corrupt, but he is implicating Gilzean in some questionable activities. Also, Diamond received contributions from prosecutor Brian Stokes before Stokes prosecuted a case that Diamond had a financial interest in. While Diamond may be correct about Gilzean, Moe views this as the pot calling the kettle “black”, because all of them are corrupt.

This is a classic case of how having connections to the governor can jeopardize multiple facets of the government and destroy public trust. Money issues, rigged elections, holding multiple positions in the government at the same time, ethics violations, etc. Gilzean is a danger to the public in Moe’s opinion, and he and anyone connected to him will be expelled from the government on Day 1 of Moe’s Administration. Phil Diamond will join them.
